With just an idea – which now makes it to be great ideas to be localised – TiME Tickets has made it to the finalist of the Pivot East 2013. It should be remembered that Pivot East 2013 a good number of applications from participating countries: Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
What is Pivot East? PIVOT EAST is East Africa’s premier mobile startups pitching competition held annually since 2011. It is an m:lab East Africa initiative to amplify and consolidate the gains of East Africa’s Mobile developer and entrepreneurship ecosystem. Every year it comes with different and specific objective to realise its purpose.
TiME Tickets – as the word TiME comes from Ticketing Made Easy – aims to simplify the ticketing process, reduce pain from end users and provide revenue insurance to business owners. It will help people buy tickets using their mobile phones and the crucial thing is that their tickets will be validated form the same mobile phones. We plan to use mobile money payment like M-Pesa and TiGO Pesa as they are more convenient most of people.
It should be noted that the idea of TiME Tickets app resulted as response of an opportunity to participate in Pivot East 2013. A team of young entrepreneurs from two startups in Tanzania, Dephics Co. Ltd and CityWeb Technologies joined forces and perfect the idea and surprisingly they made it all the way to the finalist and now they will be pitching in front of prospect investors on 25th and 26th June 2013 at Sheraton Hotel, Kenya. Also from Tanzania, GoFinance will also travels to Kenya for the finals making only two teams from Tanzania this year who made it to finalist stage.
To date, its obvious Pivot East 2013 will remain the foundation of TiME Tickets as its form here the ideas was nurtured. The whole process of preparing lean canvas, budgets, pitch decks etc. equipped our team with so much – and – only these procedures will leave us full armed to take our idea further.
